1. Data of indicators
1. 1. Switching between tables and time series graphs
- Select an item from "1. Select major category" and then select an item from "2. Select major category" to display a list of applicable indicators.
- You can change the display format in "View the indicators in a table" and "View the indicators in a time series graph".
1.2. Checking data details
- Select an index in the table and click "View data sources, creation methods, etc." to check detailed information on the data.
- When you click the source information link, you can jump to the website of the data source.
1.3. Check national and municipal figures
- Click Choose City and select a state or province. You can also search for a city in the input box.
- You can view the data for the selected city in a list.
2. Looking at one indicator on a map
2.1. Establish indicators
- Select an item from "1. Select major category" and then select an item from "2. Select major category" to display a list of applicable indicators.
- Select the indicator whose numeric value you want to check from "3. Select an indicator".
- You can view the data of the selected indicator in a map format.
2. 2. Switch between latest year number and percentage change
- Select "Most Recent Year's Data" to view the numeric data for the indicator.
- Select Rate of Change to view the rate of change for the specified time period.
- You can also click the "Number" or "Rate of change" column in the table to switch between ascending and descending order.
- *The end year for calculating the percentage change is fixed at the most recent year for which data exists for the indicator.
2.3. Selecting single / multiple Prefectures
- Select the prefecture to be displayed from "Select prefecture".
- You can select multiple prefectures.
- The data for the selected prefecture appears in map format.
2.4. Choosing a City to Display from the Distribution
- Drag to region-select any points displayed in the distribution.
- Filters the cities displayed on the map.
3. Compare one indicator with another
3.1. Establish indicators
- Select an item from "1. Select major category" and then select an item from "2. Select major category" to display a list of applicable indicators.
- Select the indicator whose numeric value you want to check from "3. Select an indicator".
- You can view the data for a selected metric in a graphical format.
3.2. Switching between a similar organization and a voluntary organization
- You can switch the setting method of the comparison target between "Similar organization" and "Voluntary organization".
- In comparison with similar organizations
- For ordinance-designated cities, core cities, and special wards, the same municipal classification is automatically selected and compared.
- For general municipalities, municipalities with similar population size, aging rate, and financial capability index are automatically selected and compared.
- In comparison with voluntary organizations
- Set the group conditions you want to compare (municipality division, total population, aging rate, financial strength index).
- You can check the position of the selected local government in each indicator.

4. Relationship between the two indicators
4.1. Prerequisites
- The display shows the most recent year for which data exists for both the two indicators set on the Y and X axes.
- "Since the Y-axis is the primary axis, you can select any indicator for the Y-axis. On the other hand, since the X-axis is designed to display only indicators that have the same year data as the indicator selected on the Y-axis, the number of indicators that can be selected as the X-axis increases or decreases depending on the indicator selected on the Y-axis. In this dashboard, we recommend that you set the indicator you want to analyze on the Y-axis and view the data by switching the X-axis."
4.2. Setting the Y-Axis Index
- Select "1. Select the indicator for the Y-axis".
- Select an item from "1-1. Select major category" and then select an item from "1-2. Select major category" to display a list of applicable indicators.
- Finally, select the indicator you want to set for the Y axis from "1-3. Select indicator".
4.3. Setting the X-Axis Index
- Select "1. Choose the X-axis indicator".
- Select an item from "2-1. Select major category".
- Select an item from "2-2. Select middle classification".
- Select the indicator you want to set for the X-axis from "2-3. Select an indicator".
4. 4. Narrow the list of cities to display
- Prefecture, municipality division, population size, aging rate, financial capability index, etc. are set.
- The list displays a scatter graph of the filtered cities.
5. Changes in the four indicators
5.1. Select the chart area and select an indicator.
- From "1. Select municipality" and "2. Select comparison target", set the municipality that you want to see the numerical value.
- Specify the range of the number you want to see from "3. Specify the period".
- Select the chart area (A to D) for which you want to change the indicator from "4. Select a chart area to set an indicator", and select an indicator in "5. Select an indicator".
- Configure the other chart areas (A through D) in the same way, and then configure the four charts that you want to display.
5.2. Changing Chart Appearance
- If you select "As a real number (absolute value)", you can see the annual change of the real number.
- If you select "Comparison with the base year (relative value)", you can see the annual change of the value with the base year set to 100.
6. Download multiple metrics at once
6.1. Establish indicators
- Select "Major," "Major," or "Indicator" from "1. Select an indicator" on the left menu.
- Select "Period" or "City" from "2. Set conditions".
6.2. Downloading Data
- Select Download at the bottom of the menu.
- Select Data and click Download.
