Background of the Collaboration
The movie "Goodbye My Car" tells the story of a 70-year-old movie star, played by Hiroshi Tachi, who faces the reality of having to give up his driver's license against his will. He then sets out on a journey to fulfill the wish of a longtime friend and a promise he made to his beloved wife.
The number of My Number Cards issued surpassed 100 million in December 2025 and has continued to grow steadily. As of the end of April 2026, approximately 103 million cards had been issued, representing about 82.7% of Japan's population. In addition, many people are benefiting from the convenience of the card as a secure and reliable form of identification that can be used both in person and online.
Aimed at people considering giving up their driver's licenses, this collaboration with the film "Goodbye My Car" was undertaken to introduce the fact that the My Number Card can be used for identity verification after giving up their driver’s license. This is reflected in the campaign tagline: "After giving up driver's license, My Number Card securely verifies your identity in person and online."
Digital Agency will promote this initiative as an opportunity for more people to learn about the "Everyday uses for the My Number Card", along with the appeal of the movie.

Everyday Uses of the My Number Card
My Number Card provides a safe and reliable way to verify your identity both in-person and online. Further details are available on the Digital Agency website: Scenes of My Number Card use.
Using the My Number Card as the Health Insurance Certificate
My Number Card can be used as a health insurance certificate, allowing users to access information on their past medical treatment and prescription history. With the individual's consent, sharing data such as Specific Health Checkup results, medical consultation history, and prescription records with doctors and pharmacists enables the provision of better medical care.
Accessing Medial Information during Emergency Transport
By using the My Number Card as a health insurance certificate, even in situations where the patient cannot explain their medical history or current medications during an emergency transport, paramedics can read the My Number Card to obtain information such as consultation history, medical information, and prescription records. This helps make emergency response operations faster and smoother.
Obtaining Official Certificates at Convenience Stores
"Convenience Store Issuance" is a service where you can use your My Number Card (or Basic Resident Register Card) at multi-copy machines (kiosk terminals) installed in convenience stores nationwide to obtain copies of resident records, seal registration certificates, and other documents issued by your municipality.
Using My Number Card for Tax Filing (Mynaportal Integration)
When filing your final tax return using e-Tax (National Tax Electronic Filing and Payment System) with your My Number Card, you can retrieve data in bulk, such as withholding tax slips for employment income, medical expenses, and hometown tax donations (Furusato Nozei) via the Mynaportal, and automatically input them into the relevant sections of your tax return.
Identity Verification for Private Sector Services
The use of the My Number Card for in-person and online identity verification is expanding across various private sector services. For example, it provides a secure and definitive way to verify your identity when opening bank or securities accounts, applying for mobile phone services, or using services such as secondhand goods trading, online auctions, and matching apps.
