Both My Number Card and electronic certification have their own expiration dates. Details are as follows:
- My Number Card expiration date
- If you are at least 18 years old at the time the card is issued: Until your 10th birthday after the card is issued

Renewal Procedures
Renewal procedures for My Number Card and electronic certification can be carried out at the municipal office of the municipality where you live (where you have your resident registration) from three months prior to the expiration date. In addition, for those who are due to expire in My Number Card or electronic certification, the Japan Agency for Local Authority Information Systems (J-LIS) will send an envelop containing a "Notice of Expiration Date" to your home about two to three months prior to the expiration date. My Number Card Renewal Procedures (Four Methods)
