2025 Children's Kasumigaseki Tour Day: Workshops on learning and thinking through generative AI

"Children's Kasumigaseki Tour Day (Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology)" was held on August 6 (Wed) and 7 (Thu). In Digital Agency, workshops were held on the theme of "generative AI" for elementary and junior high school students. The following shows the implementation status of each workshop on the day.

Workshop for elementary school students
Program Description
The participants were divided into three groups and worked on the workshop. Using the generative AI, they created a story called "The Great Adventure of Maina-chan." At the end, they drew a scene from the story and presented it one by one.
At the presentation time, Mr. Kishi, Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Digital Transformation participated on the first day and Mr. Asanuma, Vice-Minister for Digital Transformation, Chief Officer of Digital Agency on the second day, and they had a fun time interacting with the participants.
Impressions of participation
The following comments were received from participants.
- It was my first exposure to generative AI.
- I enjoyed making up stories and drawing pictures.
- It's fun to be able to tell unexpected stories in the generation AI.
- Some parents said that it was good to know what they should be careful about when using the generative AI.

Workshop for junior high school students
Program Description
We held a workshop divided into three groups. We used the generative AI to think about ourselves and the future Japanese nation, and each group made a presentation.
At the beginning of each workshop, Mr. Taira, Minister for Digital Transformation, participated on the first day, and Mr. Tomiyasu, Vice-Minister for Digital Policy, participated on the second day. They talked about the roles and work of the Digital Agency and how to utilize generative AI in the future.
Impressions of participation
The following comments were received from participants.
- It was realized that sometimes the answer of the generating AI was wrong.
- It turns out that the answer depends on how you ask the question.
- In a world where AI is evolving, I got a hint to realize what I want to do in the future.
