Received a Proposal on “Digital Nippon 2026” from the Liberal Democratic Party Headquarters for the Promotion of a Digital Society

On May 21, 2026, Minister for Digital Transformation Matsumoto met with the Liberal Democratic Party (LDP) Headquarters for the Promotion of a Digital Society and received a policy proposal titled “Digital Nippon 2026.”

During the meeting, the LDP Headquarters gave an overview of the proposal, which presents the concept of “responsible agile governance” and outlines Japan's desired direction for digital policy. The proposal covers areas such as artificial intelligence (AI), development of digital talent, disaster management, on-chain finance, and strengthening the Digital Agency's functions. After the presentation, the two sides exchanged views on these matters.
