Minister for Digital Transformation Matsumoto attended the World Economic Forum Annual Meeting 2026

On January 21, Minister Matsumoto participated in the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026* in Davos, Switzerland. He delivered speeches at the sessions titled “Country Strategy Dialogue on Japan” and “Digital Healthcare Transformation: Re-imagining Health.”
During the meeting, he exchanged views with ministers from participating countries and executives from global digital technology companies.
*WEF Annual Meeting 2026 convened under the theme “Spirit of Dialogue” and was held from January 19 to 23 in Davos, Switzerland. The meeting brought together nearly 3,000 leaders and media from over 130 countries.
Country Strategy Dialogue on Japan (Invitation only)
Minister Matsumoto participated in the session titled “Country Strategy Dialogue on Japan.” He outlined the current state of digitalization in Japan, highlighted past and ongoing initiatives in AI and cybersecurity, and presented perspectives on the future direction in these areas.
Digital Healthcare Transformation: Re-imagining Health (Invitation only)
Minister Matsumoto participated in a session on medical digital transformation (DX), emphasizing the importance of digitalization in healthcare. He explained how AI can advance healthcare DX, highlight both its benefits and challenges, and shared Japan’s vision for the future of healthcare through utilizing digital technology.
Bilateral Meetings
Taking the opportunity of the WEF Annual Meeting, Minister Matsumoto held bilateral meetings with participating Ministers from Saudi Arabia and Singapore.
