About Reading IC Chips, etc. with Smartphones

Smartphones are increasingly being used to scan IC chips and IC tags embedded in My Number Card and electronic vehicle inspection certificates, and the acquired information is being used for online application in administrative procedures.
In order to ensure smooth use, we will explain the scanning position of IC chips on smartphones and points to be aware of, using My Number Card as an example.
About Reading Position
Depending on the model, the position to hold the IC card may differ. Therefore, you can use the IC card smoothly by checking the preparation (Japanese Public Key Infrastructure Portal Site) for the position to hold the IC card in advance of the and holding the IC card at the appropriate position.
Scanning Considerations
- From the entry of the password to the completion of scanning, please keep pointing the smartphone to the My Number Card exactly.
- Scanning may take more than 5 seconds to complete
- You may not be able to read it on a metal desk
- Removing the cover may make it easier to read. If the reaction is bad, please remove the cover and try again.
- Remove the cable for charging and earphones.
- For Android, turn ON the NFC / Osaifu-Keitai function.
