Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Digital Transformation Kawasaki’s visit to Georgia

Parliamentary Vice-Minister for Digital Transformation Kawasaki visited Georgia from December 20 to 23. During the visit, he exchanged views with government agencies responsible for digital technology and visited private sectors in the digital field. The visit contributed to further deepening mutual understanding between the two countries on advanced digital initiatives.
Details of the visits and meetings are as follows.
Business and Technology University (BTU)
Visited BTU and held a meeting with Dr. Enukidze, Rector of BTU. During the meeting, they exchanged views on potential collaboration with Japan in digital twin technology and related fields. Participants also visited the XR Lab (Extended Reality Learning Laboratory), operated by the university.


State Representative in the Imereti Region
A meeting was held with Mr. Zalkaliani, State Representative in the Imereti region. They exchanged opinions on regional digital transformation (DX) initiatives in Georgia and Japan, as well as related topics.


Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development
A meeting was held with Mr. Ioseliani, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development of Georgia, during which views were exchanged on digitalization in government administration, disaster prevention DX, and related issues. Discussions also covered potential future cooperation in the digital field, and agreement was reached to initiate working-level consultations towards concluding a Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC).


Ministry of Finance
Visited the Ministry of Finance of Georgia and exchanged views on budget transparency and the use of digital technologies in policy development. During the meeting with the First Deputy Minister of Finance Kakauridze, explanations were provided on digitalization in the government’s financial field, including how budgets are linked with policy.


Georgia Technology and Innovation Agency
A meeting was held with Mr. Kasradze, Chairman of the Georgia Technology and Innovation Agency (GITA), and exchanged views on supporting startups and initiatives to promote innovation. The discussion also highlighted the importance of public–private collaboration and fostering innovation through human resource development.


Silknet JSC
An exchange of views was held with the representatives of Silknet JSC, one of Georgia’s largest telecommunications companies. The discussion focused on Watt-Bit collaboration in data centers in the AI era and on initiatives to address the digital divide.

Ministry of Justice
Visited the Ministry of Justice of Georgia and exchanged views with Deputy Minister of Justice Dgebuadze. During the meeting, an explanation was provided on their initiatives to improve administrative services in the judicial field, followed by an exchange of perspectives.


Public Service Hall
Visited the Public Service Hall, a legal entity under the Ministry of Justice, that offers integrated public services for citizens. During the visit, participants received explanations about the initiative, which provides high-quality and user-friendly administrative services both in-person and online.

Ministry of Foreign Affairs
A meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia with Deputy Minister Khvtisiashvili. Their discussion focused on policy consultation in the digital field.
