The Guideline for Japanese Governments’ Procurements and Utilizations of Generative AI for the sake of Evolution and Innovation of Public Administration

1. Overview

During the 19th Council for the Promotion of a Digital Society Executive Board Meeting(Japanese text), held in writing on May 27, 2025, “The Guideline for Japanese Governments’ Procurements and Utilizations of Generative AI for the sake of Evolution and Innovation of Public Administration” was approved.

This guideline was formulated by the Digital Agency, in collaboration with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry and the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications, in response to the development of AI-related technologies and the rapid advancement of AI utilization in both the public and private sectors. It aims to promote the use of generative AI in various government operations while securing risk management.
