OECD Ministerial Meeting
The OECD Ministerial Council Meeting (MCM) is one of the most important meetings of the OECD, held under the leadership of the chair country. Ministers from 38 OECD member countries represent a wide range of fields, including economics, finance, digital technology, and the environment. They convene to discuss pressing international issues, including global economic stability, sustainable growth, climate change, digitalization, and reducing inequalities.
This year’s MCM, chaired by Finland with Korea and New Zealand serving as Vice-Chairs, focused on the theme “Getting Industrial Policies Right for Open Markets, Growth and Prosperity.”
Vice-Minister for Digital Transformation (hereinafter "Vice-Minister") Misumi participated in two digital-related sessions on June 3. He shared Japan’s perspectives on advancing DFFT from concept to implementation, highlighting initiatives such as promoting data flows through institutions, technologies, and operations, as well as the “Government AI GENAI” project led by the Digital Agency.
(Note: The name “GENAI” is derived from “Generative AI” and pronounced “GENNAI”.)
